LOS ANGELES (AP) — In the first few minutes on the phone with The Associated Press, Chappell Roan shared a revealing fact about herself. Born and raised in Missouri, Roan left the state for Hollywood not long after being discovered on YouTube by Atlantic Records. Roan, like Rodrigo, has a knack for candor in theatrical, cheeky pop songwriting — even when the truth is embarrassing — emphasized by her vocal range. ROAN: It's evolving constantly, but more recently it’s been more of a drag project, especially now that I’m (on) tour. I'm really uncomfortable by sex scenes in movies, or when people flirt with me.

While attending Tenafly High School, he played in various rock groups, including a duo called Gary and Billy with his school friend Bill Markle. LONDON, May 22 (Reuters) - U.S. pop-rock duo Sparks say they are still peaking creatively, putting out "provocative and challenging" music as they release their 26th studio album, "The Girl Is Crying In Her Latte", this week. The brothers, Russell on vocals and Ron on keyboard, released their debut album in 1971, originally as Halfnelson before changing their name. “There's a stronger bond to the band than it might be if we weren't brothers," Ron Mael said. "We feel creatively that we're still peaking, but...we're so pleasantly surprised at the reaction in particular with the tour," Ron Mael said. "We've written the screenplay and also done all the music... they're billing it as an epic musical," Russell Mael said.
A bitter breakup with a longtime boyfriend was the genesis of “To Myself,” Baby Rose’s 2019 debut album, which was released through Island Records. Its title track, “All to Myself,” was a wrenching, gospel-rooted ballad she recorded on its first take. She followed it up with an EP, “Golden Hour,” in 2020, and a song on the soundtrack of the HBO series “Insecure.” But amid the isolation and upheavals of the pandemic, Island dropped her. “It’s imperative to grow.”While her debut album was a confessional outpouring, “Through and Through” is more deliberate. It’s me realizing how much we are more alike than we think we are.”During the pandemic, Baby Rose took an online songwriting course from Berklee College of Music, learning about structures and rhyme schemes and thinking about classic pop.
